Traveling for our 40th Anniversary

Rodney and I are in St. Ignace, MI, enjoying beautiful weather and lots of activities. Fortunately for us on the weekend of our  Anniversary there is a lot of cool things going on here. We choose St. Ignace to celebrate this big event in our life together because we have had so many good memories together here.

I am using my new Smash journal http://www.smashstoriesblog.com/ to record our events. I am having a blast and so is he!

Will be back with more info soon!

Sabrina the Birthday Bear

When my baby, Sabrina turned 30 we went shopping and she wanted to get a Build a Bear. It was a very fun time with her.  To remember the special Day, I decided to get one and dress her like Sabrina and since it was Sabrina's birthday I added the Birthday song to the bear.

After bringing it home I decided to call it Sabrina and then thought it would be nice to share her with others. So the idea came to me to make the tag you see and have it open for a place for signatures. The tag says:

Hello, my name is Sabrina.
I am a Birthday Bear.
I am here to wish you Happy Birthday!
Just squeeze my left foot
and when my song is finished, look in my purse for your surprise!
On you way home today, please take me home to Lonna’s Office. Thank you!
P.S. Please write your name and Birthday on the inside of my tag,
so I can remember you on my journey.

I took her to work for many birthdays and she gave a smile to their faces, and each one found a gift card in her purse.

Here is a picture of my baby with her favorite treat on her 30th birthday.

The summer camp is coming to an end, it has been a lot of fun! I am so impressed with all the beautiful cards in the Student Gallery and so happy to have been a part of this.

The idea for this card came to me before I saw the colors and then to my surprise the colors worked beautifully with my idea. I designed the balloon from a picture I saw and cut out a pattern, which I finished the raw edges with ribbon. The hardest part of this card for me was what to say. In the end I just had to put something and I liked the feeling of being Free!

Week 3 Card and Envelope

It is already the third week of this great Card Camp. I have been so enjoying seeing all the beautiful cards made by the committee and all the class members.

This week I am using Jennifer's technique she calls “fingerinking.” I enjoyed making this card the best so far. I really liked the colors the best and designed the card more like my usual style.
You just barely see the envelope that I stamped to match. First time I have ever done that! Next I will show you the inside of the card, I went all the way this time!

Week 2 Card

This is my second stab at making a card based on colors. This is a completely new concept for me and it does not feel natural. So I am having problems. But I know I can work through them!

This is this weeks colors:
Here is my card, the back ground stamp is Hero Arts and the rest are cutouts. My goal was to use the colors and also have something that had a large focal point.

Week 1 Card

I am so excited to be a part of Summer Card Camp 2011 with two of my favorite On-Line Artist, Kristina Werner and Jennifer McGuire.
This card was a challenge for me because this is the first I have created a card based on colors. I enjoyed the challenge. I loved seeing Jennifer's video technique and enjoyed creating flowers this way. My flowers are from Hero Arts. And the dragon flies are from Inkadinkado.

Trying Something New

I recently bought a Netbook, I wanted something smaller to carry with me and hoped I would blog more with it. Well that didn’t happened. I love my new mini computer, but was so fascinated with it, I just spent my time playing with it.

Then I learned about a software for writing posts from the desktop called Windows Live Writer. So I downloaded it and here I am trying something new on my new Netbook.

I believe I will write more with this because it fills more familiar like Word, than writing on the blog website.

It finally feels like summer and I can take my new toy out in the sun room and write about what I have been reading and about my life. Writing has been my dream for quite a while.

I have been reading The Happiness Project and realized I had started my own goals years ago and have been working on them every since. So I am going to share them on this blog like she does. I am not trying to be like Gretchen, I just want to give God credit for helping me find happiness and am borrowing her idea to share what I have learned. You can follow the link on this blog to learn more about Gretchen’s Happiness Project. I am enjoying reading her book very much and admire her for what she has accomplished.

Gift for New Baby Boy

An engineer where I work, just became a father! His wife just gave birth to a beautiful boy - Jacob.

I wanted to make something, but couldn't think of anything. Then I watched a craft show on TV and saw what I wanted to make. This isn't just like they did, but close. I used Tim Holtz grunge paper and it feels so nice. I hope they like it!

Happy Admin Week

I have been a secretary/admin for about 15 years. I have always enjoyed my job and have taken the time during all my jobs to learn as much as I could to be the best I could be. And for me this is one of my favorite weeks of the year.

I usually like to give something to the other women I work with that are also Admins. So this year, I made tags that I got the idea for, from Craft Stamper magazine. Here is one of them.

Challenge Day!

Today I stepped way out of my comfort zone. I participated in my first Challenge Day at a Middle School.

To find out information about Challenge Day use this link: Challenge Day. I learned about it at work and signed up. I had to fill out a form about me, so they could verify I had no record or problems. They sent me details of what to expect and what was expected of me as an adult volunteer.

I enjoyed this day, learned a lot about these students in a short time and about myself. I was able to be more open than usual for myself and participated freely in front of others, because I was doing it for the kids. Which in the end helped me. I will do this again!

Oh What a Beautiful Day!

It is so hard to believe it is 84 degrees out! Oh, it is so nice outside!

We have had a very long winter in Michigan. Even know everyone I saw today, said it won't last, I don't care, it is beautiful today! In Michigan, it is always said if you don't like the weather wait a day, it will change. Only this time we don't want it to change.

I went shopping today with my best friend Kathy to Scrapbook Peddler. We wanted to check it out since it has moved to a larger location. It is very nice! I bought stuff for next weekend. I will be scrap-booking with my daughters at Sabrina's home. She has a great finished basement, which we all enjoy spending time in. I will be working on a surprise for my hubby for our 40th Wedding Anniversary this year.

Have a very nice day!

My Dear Husband

This is my dear husband Rodney. This was taken on train ride in Kentucky last year.

Rodney is very good to me, we agreed that he cooks and I clean. But he also helps me do dishes and laundry and pays someone to clean our house every other week. I am very blessed. I get to spend all the time I want on crafts!

My first post!

Today I begin a new journey...

A little bit of my history...
I have loved making all kinds of crafts for many years. Finally at age 58, I have been blessed with the best craft room and supplies to make beautiful things to share with others. When my kids were young, I had very little room or money for making crafts. Now, I have the room and money! I enjoy creating almost every day!

In the last couple of years I have had the pleasure to watch others on the computer, making cards, scrapbook pages, and many other things. I read from their blogs daily. With their inspiration, I have greatly improved my skills.

Now I am ready to have my own blog to share my love of crafts with others and find friends with the same love of crafting.
